Totnes Community Development Society (TCDS) is inviting appropriately experienced and qualified contractors to tender for the Atmos Totnes Brunel Building refurbishment & extensions with new build Energy Centre.
The project is being tendered on a ‘2 Stage Tender’ basis in order to allow for the early appointment of a ‘Preferred Contractor’ to form part of the Project Team.
Atmos Totnes is a community led site ownership and design process leading to the procurement of the old Dairy Crest Site in Totnes. The site is the redundant dairy and creamery industrial site on the north west edge of Totnes adjacent to the River Dart, existing woodland, the dart weir, the main railway line and existing housing.
A community led consultation process informed a scheme concept design and led to a Community Right to Build Order (CRtBO), which is being managed by Totnes Community Development Society (TCDS). TCDS is a not for profit, Charitable Community Benefit Society, which is acting on behalf of the Totnes Community.
Atmos Totnes has consent through a Made Community Right to Build Order (CRtBO) to develop the site to provide a range of residential, community and associated uses. CRtBO is equivalent to planning permission.
The proposed Brunel Building refurbishment and extensions with new build Energy Centre form a key early phase of the wider Atmos Totnes scheme. The works include: the demolition and clearance of structures on the South side of the Atmos Totnes site, establishment of drainage infrastructure, the construction of a temporary roadway across the South site, the refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed Brunel Building, the construction of the contemporary sunroom extension and the glazed connecting link to the construction of a new Energy Centre building.
